Industrial Visits

·             On March 02, 2016, an industrial visit was organized for 6th semester students of B. Tech. Civil Engineering to Parsvanath Royale by Parsvnath Developers, Sector-20, Panchkula. Students during the Field Visit to Parsvanath Royale , Sector-20, PanchkulaAnother industrial visit for  4th semester students of B. Tech. Civil Engineering on March 02, 2016 to PEDA (Green Building) Sector 33-D, ChandigarhStudents during the Field Visit to PEDA (Green Building) Sector 33-D, Chandigarh

·                  A visit was organized for the 6th semester students at Bhakra Nangal Dam & Ganguwal Power station. The motive was to disseminate technical knowledge about the massive structures which are considered to be the marvels of civil engineering. The students were apprised of the entire working of both the projects. Students showed keen interest in the working procedures and installation areas at Ganguwal Power station.

·                 An Industrial visit followed by the site visit was organized on 4th Nov'15 for B.Tech 5th Semester Civil Engineering students to Ultratech Ready Mix Concrete batching plant in Panchkula (H.R) followed by the visit to a G+4 building construction site in Panchkula. In total Fifty-One Students and two Faculty members were present.

·                    A site visit was organized on 3rd Nov'15 for B.Tech 5th Semester Civil Engineering students to the construction site of flyover on the Barotiwala- Kalka Road near Maharaja Agrasen University. In total Forty Eight Students accompanied by two Faculty members were present.

            

            For the practical exposure of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) students, an industrial visit was organized on 21April 2016 to Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), Chandigarh. PEDA Engineers demonstrated live projects to generate power from the solar cells. The students also learnt about the Energy Conservation and Battery Operated Vehicle Engineering. 

 

·               An industrial visit was organized for the 4th semester Mechanical Engineering students on 15 February 2016 to M/s Milestone Gears Pvt. Ltd., Barotiwala and M/s S. R. Forgings Ltd., Barotiwala. Students were introduced to the working of Gear Hobbers, Gear Shapers, Gear Shavers, Deep Hole Drilling Machines, CNC Twin Chuckers, Horizontal Machining Centres, Vertical Machining Centres, Induction Hardening Machines, Drop Hammer, etc.

·                  A site visit was organized on 4th Nov'15 for B.Tech 5th Sem Mechanical Engineering students to Bhakhra Dam & Ganguwal Hydro-Power Plant. Students learnt the working and technical machinery being used at both sites.

·                An industrial visit was organized for 3rd semester Mechanical Engineering students on 30th September, 2015 to M/s Milestone Gears Pvt. Ltd., Barotiwala and M/s S. R. Forgings Ltd., Barotiwala where students were introduced about working of Gear Hobbers, Gear Shapers, Gear Shavers, Deep Hole Drilling Machines, CNC Twin Chuckers, Horizontal Machining Centres, Vertical Machining Centres, Induction Hardening machines, drop hammer etc.

 

·                   An industrial visit was organized by the Mechanical Engineering Department to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Power Plant, Ropar (Punjab). In this visit students got a firsthand knowledge of the functioning of a Thermal Power Plant--something very difficult to comprehend while sitting in a class room. Er. Suminderjit Singh JE, of Training Department of the plant, guided the tour and explained the functioning of the plant and its various sub units. The students were explained about the mode of transportation of coal from the coal mines to the plant and the procedure adopted for measuring the weight of the coal and unloading facility of wagons. The students were shown the operation of the automatic wagon tippler.

 

·            Educational Field trip of MTTM II semester students was organized on 27th January, 2016. It was a nine day tour (27th January 2016 to 4th February 2016) to Goa to give the students exposure to tourism industry. Mr. Dikshit Gupta, Assistant Professor, School of Management accompanied the students. It was one of the most inspirational, introspective, and life-changing experiences. The tour enabled the students to have a hand on experience of tourism sector and helped them in the enhancement of their knowledge of new places. The tour combined learning and tour designing activities with hands-on experience of hotel contract and negotiation skills.

 

· Students of School of Basic & Applied Sciences accompanied by faculty member visited the following:

·   Students under the guidance of faculty visited the District Courts at Panchkula, Haryana. The President and other office bearers of the Panchkula Bar Association interacted with the students and discussed about the court procedure.

·   Students under the guidance of faculty visited the Court of Sub-Judge at Kalka, Haryana

·   Senior students under the guidance of faculty visited Haryana State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission.

 

 

Guest Lectures

·                    Microsoft Azure, formerly known as Windows Azure, is Microsoft's public cloud computing platform. It provides a wide range of cloud services, including those for computing, analytics, storage and networking. Users can pick and choose from these services to develop and scale new applications, or run existing applications, in the public cloud. This event was conducted on 16 March, 2016 and attended by 75 students of B.Tech. (CSE) 2nd & 3rd Semesters and M.Tech (CSE).

·                    The objective of this talk was to train our students to design and implement efficient cloud. Mr. Pankaj Sharma, Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer, from HCL Career Development Centre, Chandigarh Division, delivered the talk.

·                    Department of ECE and EEE organized Expert Lecture on “Inverters" and “Root locus and Bode Plot” on Tuesday, 01 March 2016 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Mr. U. K. Jha, Associate Professor, Deptt. of Electrical Engineering, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, Delhi delivered the lecture. Students of 2nd & 3rd year of ECE, EEE were present on the occasion.

·                    Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering had organized an Expert Lecture on ‘Cognitive Engineering’ on Saturday, i.e.17/10/2015. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mandeep Singh, Senior Associate Professor, Thapar University, Patiala, Punjab.

·                    Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering had organized an Introductory Lecture on “Applications of Power System Simulation Softwares” on Thursday i.e. 08/10/2015 at 1:00 pm onwards in the seminar hall. Ms. Krikita Sharma, Application Engineer, Power, TVASTAR Engineering Solution Private Limited, Gurgaon was aresource person for this lecture.

·                    Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering organized an Introductory Lecture on “Recent Trends in Industry Automation" on Monday i.e. 05/10/2015 at 2:00 pm onwards. Mr. Kapil Jindal from Advance Technology, Chandigarh delivered an lecture on the recent developments in industrial Automation, PLC, SCADA and Microcontroller.

·                    On 18 August 2015, a guest lecture was organised on Entrepreneurship. Mr. Joseph Jude, CEO, GoTell Systems and Mr. Rishabh Sharma, a young entrepreneur, addressed the students.

·                    A lecture on “Career Development of the Students” was delivered by Prof. Yoginder Singh Verma, Pro Vice- Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, on 5th Feb, 2016. Prof. Verma emphasized on the innovations and change and further insisted to concentrate on improving the quality and to increase knowledge and confidence of the students. He motivated students by giving them a criterion for success which he called 7 diets for each. He explained each criterion from his daily life experiences and motivated students for developing their career by treading on the right path.

·                    A lecture on “How to remain positive in tough environment” was delivered by Prof. Kulbushan Chandel, HPU, Shimla on 11 Feb, 2016. In his lecture, Prof. Chandel advised the students to remain positive. He also emphasized on the analysis of the environment to make proper planning to cope up with the situation. All faculty members and students of School of Management were present on the occasion.

·                    A talk on “Teachings of Vivekananda” was organized by the School of Management on March 4, 2016. Where Mrs. Kalpana Mehta from Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, was the keynote speaker. She explained the basic concept of Karma Yoga and the theory of Three Gunas (Satvik, Rajsik and Tamsik). Satvik effects are related to ignorance and lead towards lethargy, Rajsik Gunas are related to passion and lead towards activity and Satvik Gunas are the balance between the two Gunas and lead towards peace and enlightenment. 150 Students of Maharaja Agrasen School of Management participated in this talk.  Dr. Amit Kumar Dashora, In-Charge, Swami Vivekananda Peeth of Maharaja Agrasen University coordinated the event. Prof. M.S Pabla, Director, School of Management was also present on the occasion.

·                    On 11th March, 2016, a special talk on “Leadership and Entrepreneurship-Emotional Quotient, Social Quotient, Financial Freedom, Vertical Career Planning” by Dr. Marko Saravanja, Chairman, Regenesys Business School, Johannesburg, South Africa was delivered to the students of the School of Management.
